US Senate debate UMass Boston January11,2010

The three candidates running for U.S. Senate met at the University of Massachusetts Boston for a live, televised debate Monday, January 11, a week before the election.

The debate, sponsored by the universitys Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, was held in the Campus Center Ballroom.

UMass Boston Chancellor J. Keith Motely and E.M.K. Institute President and CEO Peter Meade offered opening remarks.

The event featured the three candidates vying to succeed the late Senator Kennedy: Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley; State Senator Scott Brown; and Joseph L. Kennedy.
