Congressman Barney Frank joins David Gergen for a revealing conversation about his life and career, from his Jewish childhood to gay rights to the current financial crisis and its aftermath. Renowned for his straight talk and witty one-liners; Frank is one of the most influential members of Congress, where has played a leading role in debates on civil rights, abortion, military spending, and other issues since 1981. Most recently, Frank has been at the center of the federal government’s efforts to respond to collapse of Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, and other financial companies. Author of the book Speaking Frankly, he is also the subject of several others, most recently, Stuart Weisberg’s Barney Frank: The Story of America’s Only Left-Handed, Gay, Jewish Congressman.
